September 2003
What an amazing summer (capped off
by one of the best family vacations we’ve ever taken).
I had the opportunity to meet and hear
from so many new people while promoting both James Dean
Died Here and Roadside Baseball. The reviews were good (see
press quotes here), JDDH was
a BookSense 76 pick for August/September and was even the
basis of an ongoing summer feature on National Public Radio’s
All Things Considered. (Hear part of it here:

Thanks to hosts like Ira Fistell, Joe
Franklin, Jay Kugelman and Mancow among others for having
me on their shows—also I had the privilege of appearing
with the great Diana Nyad on The Savvy Traveler radio program
recently and you can hear the piece here:

A new mystery photo will be added in
just a couple of days—you can still enter a guess
for a free signed book on the one that’s there
now. A new photo slide show will be up in just a few days
too--and please check out last year's End of Summer poem
in ESSAYS.
Happy to announce that I am in the
midst of writing/photographing the sequel to James Dean
Died Here, due next spring. Details will be posted here
as stuff happens.
Thank you all, once again, for all of the support and interest.
I am indebted.
