14325 Ventura Boulevard Sherman Oaks, California

Early on the afternoon of September 30, 1955, James Dean stopped here to fill his Porsche
with gas one last time before he and his crew hit the freeway and headed north. Photographer Sanford Roth, who was documenting the trip with Dean (and would go on to take the famous
accident pictures), shot a memorable photo of Dean right here at the pumps, posed near his
car after he’d filled it with gas. Today, the a flower shop occupies the old gas station building,
but the structure where the pumps were located remains virtually unchanged.
